Phyllis Johnstone

Assistant Teacher

My primary career was in banking.  I started out as a Teller at a Savings and Loan and advanced to becoming a Supervisor.  I then moved on to a commercial bank as a Personal Banker opening all types of accounts including Savings, Checking and IRAs for both personal and business accounts.  I also made all types of loans including personal loans and mortgages.   I took many classes pertaining to bank products and leadership, became a bank officer, and had the honor of being employee of the year. In this new phase of my life, I thoroughly enjoy working as a Teacher’s Assistant at SKD.   I do not have any grandchildren of my own so I can adopt all of the children  for the day.  They are so eager to learn and I enjoy working with them in a group setting or one on one.  I think of them as my little cherubs.  The teachers that I work with at SKD are so loving and amazing, I am sure they are angels that have been sent from God.  Working at SKD along with counting collection money and being an EMHC I feel like I practice my Catholic faith every day. Things I like to do for fun are traveling (especially by cruise ship) music, movies and theater.

Christina Christopher

Preschool Teacher

I am thrilled to be a newcomer to the SKD team and feel truly fortunate to be at a place where I can play and pray alongside my students!  I received my B.A. in Organizational Communication with a minor in Leadership Studies from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.  Before becoming a teacher, I was a Program Coordinator for the Center for Creative Leadership which gave me great insights into the business world and organizations.  However, after four years God redirected my path to education, and I received my M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix.  Before moving to St. Katharine Drexel, I taught Kindergarten & Preschool in the Widefield School District (Widefield, CO)  for several years, was an early childhood teacher at Evergreen Country Day School, and most recently was a 4th grade teacher at St. Mary Catholic School in LIttleton.  Happy to be a Colorado native, I was born in Alamosa and grew up in Colorado Springs.  My family and I moved to Littleton in 2014.  I am married to John, and we have been blessed with 4 beautiful children.  They keep us busy; consequently, family life is my hobby!  We look forward to game nights, movie nights with popcorn and hot cocoa, hiking, camping, a good laugh, trying new recipes, time with family and friends, gardening, and planning for and embarking on summer road trips!  As a family, we also devote much time to various ministries at our parish, Light of the World.

My family enjoys skiing in Winter Park, hiking, playing games and watching movies together.  We are also faithfully loved by our dog, Tucker.  My goal is to help your child grow emotionally, socially and academically.  I know that you are the primary educator in the development of your child, and I am grateful to be a part of his/her growth.  Thank you for sharing the challenges and joys of that process with me.  It is a privilege.
